What Are the Benefits of a PDO Thread Lift?

The benefits of a PDO thread lift at Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas include (but are not limited to):

  • Enhanced facial contour
  • More defined facial shape
  • Reduction in signs of mild to moderate wrinkles, lines, nasolabial folds, jowls, and sagging skin
  • Stimulation of collagen and elastin production
  • Improved skin texture
  • No incisions
  • Very limited opportunity for scarring
  • A generally quick procedure
  • Often fast-acting, long-lasting results
  • Biodegradable, absorbable, FDA-cleared threads

While a PDO thread lift can be very effective for mild to moderate facial rejuvenation, those who desire a more significant solution may want to consider facelift surgery instead.

How Is a PDO Thread Lift Performed?

A PDO thread lift begins with the application of a local anesthetic, which should provide relief from discomfort throughout the procedure. From there, the threads will be gently inserted into the face with a fine needle, allowing the skin and facial tissue to be tightened and “lifted” into a more aesthetically-pleasing position.

PDO threads come in a variety of textures and lengths to suit the patient’s skin laxity and aesthetic goals. They are generally divided into two main categories: smooth threads, which are generally used to tighten tissue and replenish volume, and lifting (or “barbed”) threads, which are primarily used to lift and restructure sagging facial skin.

The A PDO thread lift treatment does not typically involve incisions or general anesthesia, and little to no downtime is usually required. In most cases, the procedure can be completed in under an hour.

How Long Do the Results of a PDO Thread Lift Last?

In general, most patients can expect the results of a PDO thread lift to last a year or longer; many of our patients come in for follow-up treatments to maintain their results. Effects may be immediately noticeable, but they may also appear gradually as the threads absorb into your skin. You may experience side effects such as swelling, bruising, or dimpling in the area, but these should fade as you heal and your collagen production flourishes.
