Sculptra®
Sculptra® is an injectable dermal filler that can be ideal for both women and men who would like to improve areas of the face affected by wrinkles or a loss of facial fat (lipoatrophy) that produces a “hollow” appearance. One of the things that makes Sculptra® unique among many other dermal fillers is its ability to create results that last extensively long periods of time–up to two years for some patients. Our experienced team at Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas can help many individuals achieve a healthier, more youthful, and refreshed appearance with this advanced injectable treatment option.

What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of hollowness in facial regions. The synthetic material that composes the Sculptra® solution includes poly-L-lactic acid, which is a biocompatible ingredient that can be very beneficial in the treatment of volume loss in the skin. What makes Sculptra® distinct from a number of other dermal filler options is its ability to encourage the production of the skin’s natural collagen in deeper dermal layers, which can help replenish volume in “sunken” areas and diminish signs of lines and wrinkles for a smoother appearance. The solution’s ability to stimulate collagen makes it possible for the effects of Sculptra® to last much longer in comparison to other injectables.
What is the Sculptra® Treatment Process Like?
Sculptra® can often create the best results when performed in a series of up to four treatments. These treatment sessions are typically done at three-week intervals. Someone from our injector team will delicately inject the Sculptra® solution into the areas targeted for rejuvenation. The solution will then begin the process of gradually rebuilding lost collagen, which should then “fill” the areas and produce a more youthful and healthy aesthetic.
What Does Recovery From Sculptra® Involve?
Although Sculptra® does not typically warrant an extensive recovery period, patients sometimes notice some degree of temporary swelling and bruising around the injection sites. These effects should be relatively mild and usually do not preclude individuals from resuming their normal daily routines right after treatment is completed. In addition, swelling can be mitigated by using a cold compress and avoiding excessive sun exposure.
Your injector will provide in-depth instructions for you to follow during aftercare. Feel free to direct any questions about recovery to our helpful staff.
How Long Does Sculptra® Last?
Sculptra® results may last up to two years after the initial series of treatments, making it one of the longest-lasting injectables available today. It is important to note that the results of Sculptra® will not be immediately apparent. Since the treatment is designed to aid the skin’s ability to reproduce its own collagen, it can take a few months for the final effects to be visible; however, many patients begin seeing the initial results within a few weeks of treatment.
How Much Does Sculptra® Cost?
The cost of Sculptra® at our practice is often variable among patients depending on the customized treatment plan. The number of treatment sessions required for optimal results, the number of Sculptra® injections that will be utilized, and other factors will be taken into account for a final cost estimate. Once your treatment plan has been created during the initial consultation, a member of our team can provide a more specific price quote and answer your questions. Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas accepts numerous convenient forms of payment. Options include financing arrangements through CareCredit®, a well-known third-party healthcare financing agency that offers qualified applicants the ability to pay for their treatment in a series of installments.
