ellacor® Micro-Coring™
Ellacor®Micro-Coring™ is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment developed by Cytrellis®. Sometimes considered a minimally invasive alternative to facelift surgery, ellacor®was designed to address excess skin and wrinkles in the mid-to-lower face.*
Ellacor®can only be performed by registered nurses and above, making Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas one of the only practices in the Charleston area to offer this specialized treatment. If you are interested in facial rejuvenation but not a candidate for a more intensive procedure, we encourage you to schedule an ellacor®consultation at our practice.

What Are the Benefits of ellacor®?
Especially when administered by a qualified provider, ellacor® can:
- Firm, tighten, and contour the lower face
- Reduce moderate to severe wrinkles
- Address excess skin and jowls
- Renew the body’s healing process to create a newer, revitalized complexion
- Produce little to no scarring
Moreover, the handheld ellacor® device is highly versatile and adjustable, meaning the provider can tailor the treatment to your unique needs and preferences. While ellacor® is considered very effective in the hands of a professional, please note that its results cannot compare to those of a surgical procedure (i.e. facelift surgery).
ellacor® vs. Radiofrequency Microneedling
In addition to ellacor®, Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas offers select other microneedling options, such as VoluDerm™ microneedling and Morpheus8™. While ellacor® also involves the use of needles to trigger the body’s healing response, it does not include the use of powerful radiofrequency (RF) energy, which is another strategy used to enhance the quality of the skin.
If you are unsure whether ellacor® or one of our other non-surgical procedures would be an ideal option for your aesthetic goals, rest assured that we will discuss each choice in detail at your initial consultation.
How Does ellacor® Work?
As explained above, ellacor® involves the application of tiny, hollow needles. These needles gently perforate the epidermal and dermal tissues, creating micro-cores that can release damaged skin cells. When the micro-cores heal, the result is typically a much more refreshed, rejuvenated facial appearance.
For optimal results, we usually recommend patients undergo multiple ellacor® sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, though your individual timeline may vary. Some may temporarily experience certain side effects, such as redness or tenderness, but these should fade promptly.
