Why Breast Augmentation Revision?

Breast surgery never promises perfection; however, when the results appear unnatural or require correction, patients often choose Plastic Surgery of the Carolinas for their breast augmentation revision.

You may consider breast augmentation revision if you have a problem with:

  • One or both breast implants unnaturally positioned
  • Implant size
  • Implant placement impacted by breast tissue characteristics
  • Implant visibility or palpability including ripping
  • Deformity of the nipple-areolar area characterized by herniated breast tissue
  • Tuberous breasts
  • Thinning of the breast tissue resulting in the implants becoming more visible
  • Pre-existing asymmetry not corrected during the initial procedure
  • Deflation
  • Capsular contracture causing hardening, shape change, or discomfort

About the Breast Augmentation Revision Procedure

Dr. Rowin will perform your breast augmentation revision in a hospital or an accredited surgery center where you will generally be asleep under anesthesia. The duration and type of technique used in your surgery is largely dependent on your individual needs and will be determined during a personal consultation with our plastic surgeon. After your breast augmentation revision, you will be dressed in a surgical type sports bra that will help to reduce swelling while supporting your breasts during the healing process. Normally, you will be ready to be discharged following your surgery after spending about an hour or so in recovery. During the next few months, your breasts should settle into a more natural position as the swelling subsides and the incision lines fade.
